Presque Isle Library/Gallery & Artist Demo
My Grandchild Could Do That
After looking at a piece of modern or contemporary art, how often have you asked yourself, “What in the world was that?” and then followed it with a comment like, “My grandchild could do that!” Join Christine Alfery to learn how to view modern art and never again walk away wondering what the artist was thinking. This lecture and field trip is based on the historical progression of art from the impressionists to current times including photography, video art, installation art and conceptual art. Monday’s lecture will be at the Woodruff Community Center followed by Tuesday’s field trip to Wausau to the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Gallery in the morning. After lunch (on your own) the field trip will conclude with a tour of the Center for the Visual Arts current exhibition as it relates to modern and contemporary art. For information about the field trip transportation, contact Karin & John Randolph (715) 356-7722.
