Steve Helgeson earned his Liberal Arts degree at Nicolet Technical Institute in Rhinelander, Wisconsin in 1998. The ceramic program at Nicolet was the beginning of his love for clay and pottery. His work was displayed at Niclolet Art Gallery in Rhinelander and won an Honorable Mention for his pottery. His work was then displayed at the University of Wisconsin.
His passion for clay and throwing has lead him to volunteering his time, by sharing his talent with others, by giving demonstrations on basic throwing skills at the Ceramic Class at Rhinelander High School and at Impact Counseling day treatment program in Rhinelander.
He had a workshop for 8 children of the Girl Scouts of America Troop 2495 of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. This workshop included the troop members and their 3 leaders in a demonstration on basic throwing skills, glazing, and hand building techniques. Then each member got hands on throwing on the wheel and made several ornaments for their parents.
He currently has a studio in Three Lakes, Wisconsin and has his pottery on display for sale at several different locations in the Northwood’s.
