Take the challenge and paint on location (Plein Air)! We meet Thursdays at 8:30am, June through August, for painting or drawing in any media. Participation is FREE and open to summer vacationers as well as the local artists. Our only rule is to respect each other, the locations that we visit and the hosts that invite us. Beginners to professionals are welcome.

Northwoods Outdoor Artists is offered by the Manito Art League; donations are appreciated. Our first Plein Air Exhibit will be Aug. 14-21, 2010, at Koller Library in Manitowish Waters! Ojibwe Birch Bark Baskets

Sandy and David Peterson are Tribal members and birch bark basket makers from Lac du Flambeau. Sandy and David are two of the few remaining basket makers available that  use traditional methods including harvesting the bark to weaving lashings to construct the baskets.  This 3 hour class will provide instruction on how to construct a traditional Ojibwe basket.  All supplies and materials will be provided.

Class are held at the Woodland Indian Art Center (Next to the Goodwill Store), 562 Peace Pipe Road in downtown Lac du Flambeau. Fee is $50/person ($30 for Tribal members).  Class size limited to 12 adults each class. Pre-register by calling (715) 588-1514.
